Weekend storm to miss Bucks County, but bitter cold lingers

While a coastal storm system expected to bring snow to parts of the East Coast this weekend will largely spare Bucks County, residents shouldn’t expect relief from the deep freeze anytime soon, according to National Weather Service Morning Coordination Meteorologist in Mount Holly, New Jersey, Sarah Johnson. “It doesn’t look like the extent of the snow is going to get as far west as the 95 corridor, it looks like the risk for snow is going to be further east.” Johnson noted that while the snow will miss Bucks and the region this weekend, the frigid temperatures will remain. “We’re still going to have the cold weather around and gusty winds, especially on Sunday, which is actually a part of the storm.” The chance for temperatures reaching above the freezing mark is next Tuesday and Wednesday, according to Johnson, when temperatures rise to between 32 and 35 degrees. Johnson noted that records show it has been eight years since Bucks County and the region has experienced excessively cold temperatures during the winter of 2017–2018.

Bucks IU expands STEAM program access with third Mobile Fab Lab

The Bucks County Intermediate Unit has launched its third Mobile Fab Lab, expanding hands-on STEAM program opportunities for students across Bucks County and beyond. Funded by a $450,000 PAsmart grant, the new mobile lab is housed in a transit van equipped with 3D printers, laser engravers, robotics gear, and digital fabrication tools. The lab will serve Bucks County schools while also reaching parts of Carbon and Lehigh counties. Bucks IU officials say the program reflects growing workforce demand in advanced manufacturing and technology fields, offering students early exposure to skills increasingly required across nearly every industry.

Bucks County teacher’s aide arrested in child exploitation case

An instructional assistant employed by the Council Rock School District has been arrested on multiple felony charges involving the solicitation and possession of child sexual abuse material, according to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office. Charles Lucas Dingman, 29, of Yardley, was taken into custody Thursday following a multi-agency investigation triggered by CyberTips from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. Prosecutors say Dingman used social media platforms including Snapchat and Twitch to solicit explicit images from minors, at times posing as a thirteen-year-old to encourage exchanges. Dingman, who worked part-time as a Title I instructional assistant at Holland Elementary School for roughly three months, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Corryn L. Kronnagel. Bail was set at $250,000, which he later posted. Charges include photographing or filming a child sex act, possession of child pornography, unlawful contact with a minor, and criminal use of a communication facility. The Council Rock School District confirmed Dingman’s employment and said he was immediately terminated. District officials emphasized that investigators have found no evidence at this time that any local or Holland Elementary students were involved, though the investigation remains active. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Bucks County Detectives.
