Voices of Reason: A deep dive into the results of the recent F&M poll

How are Pennsylvanians feeling about their government, governor, and president? We’re joined by Berwood Yost, Director of the Center for Opinion Research and the Director of the Floyd Institute for Public Policy at Franklin & Marshall College. Yost takes us through the polls findings, and reveals insights you won’t want to miss.

“I think there’s no doubt that the post election analyses showed that it was the economy that drove voters choices last fall,” said Yost. “Even though you know the sentiment about people’s personal finances have not changed since then, the thing that they tell us is most important has to do with government politics, not the economy, and I think that’s probably related to the dysfunction they’re seeing at both the state national level.

“I guess I call it dysfunction. Maybe other people would call it a stand based on principles. But however you look at it, at the state and at the federal level, we don’t have budgets. Whenever, particularly at the state level, when we ask about state problems and we don’t have a state budget, normally concerns about politics and politicians and government rise to the top.”
