Municipal Police Officers’ Commission approves two new police academies
Harrisburg, PA – The Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission (MPOETC) voted to approve the creation of new police academies at Bucks County Community College and Luzerne County Community College.
“The creation of these new academies will generate additional opportunities for qualified individuals in Bucks, Luzerne and surrounding counties who want to become municipal police officers,” said Major William A. Brown, Executive Director of MPOETC.
Since the Shapiro Administration took office in January 2023, Governor Shapiro secured funding in his first two budgets to hire over 800 new Pennsylvania State Police troopers and supported the hiring of 700 local police officers through grant funding from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD).
Individuals interested in signing up for MPOETC training should reach out to Michael Corricelli, Director of Training at MPOETC, at [email protected] or 717-346-7759.
