Middletown reports strong start to 2025 finances
Middletown Township is off to a solid fiscal start this year, according to Finance Director Laura Hucklebridge. In her report to the Board of Supervisors, Hucklebridge said first-quarter revenues are outpacing expenses, keeping the township firmly in the black. Looking ahead, Middletown expects to take in $15 million in revenue during the second quarter, driven largely by tax payments. The township also notched a significant milestone, receiving its seventh consecutive budget award from the Government Finance Officers Association — affirming its consistent commitment to responsible and transparent fiscal management.

Local doctor warns of tough road ahead on drug costs
Newtown Township’s Dr. Steven Vanni is sounding the alarm on the challenges of bringing down prescription drug prices. On his WBCB radio program, Capital Health Watch, Vanni addressed the Trump administration’s latest push to lower drug costs, calling it an uphill battle. He pointed to pharmacy benefit managers — middlemen between drug manufacturers, insurers, and consumers — as a major obstacle, accusing them of creating a pricing “mess” that hurts everyday patients. Vanni emphasized that while Americans pay top dollar for medications, many countries offer the same drugs at far lower prices. His message: Without reforming the role of these benefit managers, real savings for consumers will remain elusive.

Bucks County honors fallen officers during National Police Week
Communities across Bucks County are joining the nation in observing National Police Week, a time to honor law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The week includes Peace Officers Memorial Day, observed annually on May 15. Local departments are hosting ceremonies and tributes echoing national events held in Washington, D.C., fostering solidarity between officers, families of the fallen, and the public. Since 1898, sixteen Bucks County officers have died while serving. This week offers a solemn reminder of their sacrifice and a renewed appreciation for those who continue to serve.

Joe LeCompte hosts LeCompte in the Morning on WBCB 1490.
