Middletown Police stress school bus safety – Bucks Round-Up – September 3, 2025
Middletown Police stress school bus safety
With most Bucks County students back in the classroom, Middletown Township police are reminding drivers to stop when they see flashing red lights on school buses. Community Relations Officer Melissa Robison says there’s no excuse for ignoring the signals. Buses are equipped with stop arms and more than a dozen flashing lights. Passing a stopped bus carries a $250 fine, a 60-day license suspension, and five points on a driver’s record. Robison also urged parents to remind children to stay out of the street while waiting for the bus.
Northampton Township trains for school emergencies
Northampton Township officials recently staged an all-day training exercise focused on school safety. Police officers, firefighters, and EMTs used the former Richboro Middle School to run through emergency scenarios. Township Supervisor Chair and Fire Chief Adam Selisker said the event emphasized coordination across agencies with one goal in mind: protecting children. About 30 first responders participated. Selisker credited Bucks County Republican State Senator Frank Farry for helping secure a $26,000 state grant to purchase tactical gear and rescue equipment, tools that will also aid the township during flooding incidents.
Local attorney dispels Medicaid myths for seniors
Concerns about Medicaid changes are unfounded, according to Bucks County elder law attorney Henry Carpenter. Carpenter, who hosts Senior Legal Strategies on WBCB, said his office continues to see that Medicaid long-term care rules remain stable for seniors entering nursing facilities. He emphasized that “spousal impoverishment” rules are designed to protect the financial well-being of a spouse remaining at home. Carpenter encouraged seniors and their families to plan ahead but reassured listeners that they will not lose their home or retirement savings when a loved one requires long-term care. His program airs Tuesday at 9 a.m. on WBCB 107.3 FM and 1490 AM.
Joe LeCompte hosts LeCompte in the Morning on WBCB 1490.
