McElree supporters circulate petition

Supporters of Quakertown Police Chief Scott McElree are circulating a petition via change.org backing his retention in the wake of a clash that led to the arrest of five teenage anti-ICE protesters. The encounter between police and the “Quakertown Five” occurred on February 20 after numerous students staged a walkout demonstrating their objection to recent federal immigration enforcement actions. The five teens face felony counts of aggravated assault. Many district residents have called for the dismissal of McElree, who also serves as borough manager, and have circulated a petition to that effect, also via change.org.
