Fitzpatrick and fiancée front and center at WHCD – Bucks Round-Up – April 27, 2026

Fitzpatrick and fiancée front and center at WHCD

Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (R-01) and his fiancée, Jacqui Heinrich, a Fox News correspondent, were at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday. Heinrich, the incoming president of the White House Correspondents’ Association, was seats away from the president and adjacent to the vice president when the shots rang out. Heinrich related how quickly the Secret Service agents came from behind the dais and swiftly removed the president and vice president and ordered others under the table. Heinrich reported live from the Hilton location where there were 3,000 or more packed into the room. On the other side of the room, Congressman Fitzpatrick, a former FBI special agent, told 6abcAction News that when he heard the familiar sound of gunshots, he only was concerned about his fiancée but was not allowed to move from his area. The Secret Service reassured him she was safe, however. Later, the congressman and other members were taken by bus to the safety of the Capitol. The alleged gunman, Cole Allen from Torrance, CA, was taken into custody before he escaped the building and was held for a hearing today.

New bill would allow SNAP benefits to include rotisserie chicken

Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman and three other senators are introducing the Hot Rotisserie Chicken Act to permit Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program beneficiaries to buy hot rotisserie chicken with their SNAP cards. Notably, the current statute does not include hot prepared food under the program but permits “cooled-down” chicken. Fetterman is joined in promoting the legislation by Republican senators Jim Justice and Shelley Moore Capito, both of West Virginia, and Democratic Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO). Fetterman said rotisserie is a family favorite of his household. Together, the senators agreed it’s a common sense, healthy way to feed families at a cost of $5 to $7.  The bill does not increase funding or participant eligibility for SNAP or allow all hot foods to be included, meaning SNAP benefits would not be expanded to restaurants. Currently there are 42 million Americans on SNAP.

County bridge named for Warwick soldier killed in Vietnam

U.S. Army Sergeant George Hamilton was 21, on July 11, 1968, when he was killed in action in Vietnam. The Bucks County Commissioners last week dedicated a Bucks County bridge in Warwick Township to his memory. It is the 20th county-owned bridge named for a local soldier lost in the Vietnam War. The bridge crosses a stream along Creek Road, near Mearns Road in Warwick. Bridge dedications are part of the county’s Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge Program which honors the 136 Bucks County residents who died in service to their country. The county administers the program in partnership with the Pennsylvania Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.
