Bucks County Sheriff’s Office expands license to carry services with launch of second mobile gun permit unit, new locations

DOYLESTOWN, PA – The Bucks County Sheriff’s Office, led by Bucks County Sheriff Fred Harran, is enhancing accessibility for residents seeking to obtain their License to Carry Firearms (LTCF) with the launch of a second Mobile Gun Permit Unit and the expansion of its operational presence across the county. This expansion includes the addition of new host locations, such as Survival Trail in Pipersville, the Quakertown Farmers Market, and Overwatch Armaments in Dublin.

The Mobile Gun Permit Unit program, initially launched in 2022 as a first-of-its-kind initiative of Sheriff Harran, was established to bring essential LTCF application services directly into local communities, offering a convenient alternative to visiting the Sheriff’s physical offices. The Bucks County Sheriff’s Office processed over 12,000 gun permits for county residents in 2024. In the first quarter of 2025 alone, nearly 10% of all permits were processed by the Mobile Gun Permit Unit, underscoring the need for expanded outreach services.

“We are committed to upholding the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens in Bucks County while also prioritizing public safety,” said Sheriff Harran. “The success of our initial Mobile Gun Permit Unit demonstrated a clear need for more accessible application services. By launching a second unit and partnering with additional locations throughout the county, we are making it easier than ever for residents to complete the necessary process to obtain their License to Carry.”

Residents utilizing the Mobile Gun Permit Unit will follow the same application requirements and fee structure as those applying at the Sheriff’s fixed locations. Applicants must be Bucks County residents, 21 years of age or older, and meet all state and federal eligibility criteria, including passing a required background check. A valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License or Identification Card and two unrelated references are required. The fee for the LTCF is $20.
