Bristol Borough aims to modernize workforce tools by summer’s end
Mayor Ralph DiGuiseppe III is leading an effort to modernize Bristol Borough’s internal operations through a software upgrade designed to better serve both employees and department heads. The initiative will streamline how payroll is processed and how vacation time is scheduled, replacing outdated pen-and-paper methods and Excel spreadsheets. The proposed system will allow borough staff to manage time-off requests via mobile devices, enhancing efficiency and accessibility. DiGuiseppe says the goal is to have the new technology in place before the end of summer.
Newtown physician sounds alarm on sleep apnea risks
Dr. Stephen Vanni of Newtown Township is urging residents to be on alert for symptoms of sleep apnea, a potentially serious sleep disorder often marked by loud snoring. Vanni recommends the “STOP-BANG” questionnaire — a simple eight-question test — as a first step toward identifying the condition. Left untreated, sleep apnea can lead to elevated blood pressure and other health risks. Treatment options include the use of a CPAP machine to ensure unobstructed breathing during sleep. Dr. Vanni hosts Capital Health Watch on WBCB, where he frequently discusses preventative care and public health concerns.
Bensalem opens Public Safety Annex to support first responders
Bensalem Township officials unveiled a new Public Safety Annex designed to house critical equipment for police, fire, and EMS departments. Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo, along with Township Council members and public safety personnel, celebrated the facility’s completion this week. Public Safety Director Bill McVey praised the township’s continued investment in emergency services and thanked leadership for providing first responders with the infrastructure needed to protect both residents and visitors. The annex is expected to enhance readiness and secure vital gear for years to come.
