Today: U.S. Navy Helicopter Landing at CB South as Part of 250th Anniversary
Dear CBSD Community,
We write to share information about a special educational experience scheduled to take place [today], Tuesday, October 14, at CB South High School as part of the 250th birthday celebration of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corp. While this event will not impact most of our district, we’re sharing the details with the entire community so everyone is aware of the activities and understands the planning and purpose behind them.
As part of a weeklong series of events across the Philadelphia region honoring the Navy and Marine Corp’s semiquincentennial, members of the Navy and Marine Corps are scheduled to visit CB South tomorrow. The day is set to begin with a helicopter landing demonstration on school grounds for all students, to be followed in the afternoon with a performance in the gym by the Navy and Marine Corps ceremonial bands for seniors and members of South’s marching band.
Every aspect of the day’s events has been carefully coordinated over several months in partnership with Navy representatives, local law enforcement, emergency management officials, and district personnel to ensure a safe, secure, and well-organized experience. The event is closed to the public and limited to CB South students and staff only. Warrington Township plans to share a community notice about the helicopter landing on their social media accounts tomorrow morning.
In addition to providing a unique educational and community-building experience for students, the visit also aligns with CB South’s long-standing tradition of honoring those who serve, exemplified by our school’s Operation Eternal Gratitude club. Students in the club have sent tens of thousands of care packages to deployed service members since the club began at CB South when the school opened in 2005. Club members also curate our Wall of Honor and help host an annual Veterans Day ceremony. Welcoming the Navy and Marine Corps to campus extends this proud tradition.
We wanted to make sure our all district community members were aware of this event and our planning. Thank you for your continued support of experiences that enrich our students’ education.
Sincerely,
CB South Administration
