Tensions boil over in Haycock Township – Bucks Round-Up – October 27, 2025

Tensions boil over in Haycock Township

Months of frustration with local leadership in Haycock Township reached a boiling point at a recent meeting that was heavily attended by residents and was marked by sharp criticism of supervisors over transparency and financial practices. Secretary-Treasurer Chris Bauer, also the township’s elected tax collector, was absent, but he was again accused by residents of inflating compensation to boost his pension. Supervisor Henry DePue faced pressure for calls of more community oversight concerning the township’s community center. Despite the feverish tone, the meeting concluded on a happier note with praise for the road crew’s cost-saving measures. Bauer’s resignation is expected November 7.

Bucks D.A. announces countywide Blue Envelope Program

Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn announced a countywide rollout of the Blue Envelope Program, a unified effort to help law enforcement interact safely and respectfully with drivers who have communication barriers, including those on the autism spectrum. Joined by police chiefs from across Bucks County, Schorn said the program will bring consistency and clarity to every municipality. Middletown Township Police Chief Joseph Bartorilla, president of the Police Chiefs’ Association of Bucks County, called the initiative “a simple but powerful idea” that has already built trust in his community. Originating in Bedminster Township, the program now also covers individuals with brain injuries and other conditions. Blue envelopes, available free from any police department, hold essential documents and guidance for officers, aiming to make traffic stops calmer and safer for everyone. Schorn noted that state legislation may soon allow communication-disability designations on driver’s licenses.

Fairless Hills ‘Santa Claus’ loses home in fire

Scott Diethorne is known for putting a smile on the faces of children in Bucks County during the Christmas season when he becomes Santa Claus. A blaze destroyed Diethorne’s home Saturday night.  Diethorne is known locally for donning the red suit each Christmas. The Falls Township Fire Marshal’s office said the fire erupted in the attic and moved fast throughout the home, killing two dogs and a parrot. Firefighters responded to the home on the 700 block of Auburn Road Saturday, just before 10 p.m. Diethorne and his family were not home at the time of the fire. The Red Cross is assisting the family, and a GoFundMe page has been launched to help them rebuild.
