Bucks County Chief Public Defender Niels Eriksen Jr. has been blunt about the strain on his office.

The spending plan includes $60.5 million in operating expenses and $15.5 million for capital projects.

Democratic Commissioners Bob Harvie and Diane Ellis-Marseglia voted in favor of the budget, while GOP Commissioner Gene DiGirolamo opposed the plan.

The quarter-mill hike funds operations, capital projects as the township posts surplus.

The millage rate will remain at 15.256 mills total – 11.25 mills for general fund revenue alone.

The final budget is now available for public review.

The proposed $53.1 million spending plan includes significant tax increases tied to the earned income tax.

Warrington’s decision contrasts with its surrounding municipalities, Bucks County, and Central Bucks School District, all of which raised taxes.
