Registration open for Be Kind 5K, fun run at Holicong Park
Registration is now open for the fourth annual Be Kind 5K and 1-mile fun run, set for Saturday, April 11 at Holicong Park in Buckingham Township.
The event, organized by Kin Wellness and Support Center, will support the nonprofit’s mission of providing free care to members of the Bucks County cancer community.
Proceeds from participant registration will directly benefit the organization’s programs.
The race is part of the Bucks 5K Series, which is celebrating its 30th year of hosting events across the county. Organizers said the Be Kind race is designed for participants of all ages and abilities, welcoming both runners and walkers to take part in honor of those who have battled or are currently battling cancer.
The course will begin in the center of Holicong Park and follow an out-and-back route along Holicong Road to Upper Mountain Road before returning to the starting point. Runners will begin first, followed by walkers, to help maintain safety along the course.
Race day activities will include refreshments, a vendor village, awards and food options, including offerings from the Spuddy Buddy Fry Factory food truck.
All participants will receive a race shirt and a special takeaway, while fun run participants will also receive medals.
Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each age group, as well as overall winners in men’s, women’s and masters categories.
The schedule for the event includes registration opening at 8 a.m., the 1-mile fun run and walk at 9:30 a.m., and the 5K at 10 a.m., followed by an awards ceremony at 11 a.m.
Local cancer survivor Chris Baccash will serve as the event’s race ambassador and pace bike rider.
Organizers credited support from volunteers, participants and sponsors for making the event possible.
This year’s sponsors include Jarrett Vaughan Builders, The Thompson Organization, Thompson Detail Center, Fox Chase Buckingham, Lakeside Home Improvement, Health Insurance Personalized, Archetype Advisors, UPS Buckingham, TFW Doylestown, Up In The Air Balloons, DRS Imaging and Print, Piedmont Environmental, Borough Bagels, Bessie Mathew Foundation, Café with Soul, LaPlaca Insurance, Simply Fresh by McCaffrey’s Market, Central Bucks EMS, Verdant Landscapes and Anchor Facility Services.
Buckingham Township and its parks and recreation department are providing the venue, while Bucks County Emergency Services will be on site.
