Potential new plant to be discussed at meeting tonight

The proposed and controversial water and sewage treatment plant by the Newtown Township Authority is on hold, but not off the table, says the Stop the Plant grassroots organization, in announcing a meeting tonight of interest to plant opponents.

The Bucks County Water and Sewer Authority, the main provider in the area, will present an overview of its services and future planning at what is billed as a “conversation” with BCWSA CEO Ben Jones. On the agenda is a review of services affecting users, and an update on the ongoing Neshaminy Interceptor project.

Originating in Middletown, the “Stop the Plant” group strongly opposes the plant’s proximity to Middletown residential areas over environmental concerns. Plant opponents encourage residents from both townships to attend tonight’s session from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Middletown Township Municipal Complex, 3 Municipal Way, Langhorne, PA 19047.
