Obsessed man guilty of murdering girl he briefly dated

A Bucks County jury delivered a swift and decisive verdict Friday in one of the county’s most disturbing murder cases in recent memory. Trevor Weigel, 25, of Churchville, was convicted of first-degree murder and multiple related offenses in the February 2024 killing of 19-year-old Jaden Battista in Lower Makefield Township. The jury deliberated just over an hour before rejecting the defense’s claim of a crime of passion and concluding the attack was premeditated. Weigel now faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison when he appears before Judge Charissa J. Liller for sentencing on March 23. Prosecutors laid out a chilling timeline showing Weigel’s growing obsession after Battista ended their brief relationship. On February 16, 2024, Weigel left his job in Warminster and drove to Battista’s home while leaving a series of desperate voicemails demanding answers after she blocked him. Deputy District Attorney Alan J. Garabedian argued the killing was fueled by rage and control, not impulse. Jurors heard testimony that Weigel broke into Battista’s bedroom window, attempted to kidnap her, and stabbed her fourteen times as she tried to flee toward a responding police officer. Body camera footage captured the attack and first responders’ efforts to save her life. The jury also rejected Weigel’s claims that the two were recently engaged, finding no evidence to support his testimony. After the attack, Weigel attempted to take his own life and fled before being apprehended near I-295. A bloody knife was recovered at the scene. District Attorney Joe Khan praised local police, county detectives, and prosecutors for their work in securing justice for Battista and her family.

Borough secures federal grant for waterfront improvements

Bristol Borough is set to receive a major boost to its waterfront infrastructure after securing a $1.5 million federal grant to improve its boat docks. Borough Council announced the award this week, noting the funding comes through the Boating Infrastructure Grant program. Borough Engineer Amanda Fuller said the grant is administered by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission using federal funds from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The $1.5 million award represents the maximum amount the borough was eligible to request. Fuller credited borough staff for putting in months of work to secure the funding. She said the application process required extensive coordination with state agencies and nearly ten months of preparation. The grant will help modernize docking facilities and support recreational boating along the Delaware River, a key asset for the borough. In addition, Bristol Borough has applied for another $1 million through a Share Account Grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. That application is still under review and is expected to take up to a year.

Falls Township man allegedly sexually assaults a New Jersey girl

Falls Township Police arrested a man Friday morning on allegations he sexually assaulted an underage girl in New Jersey. Sean Flohr, 26, was taken into custody outside his Burning Bush Lane home by Falls Township Police and the Bucks County South Emergency Response Team. Authorities say the arrest followed an investigation launched after the girl sought help on Reddit regarding contact with an adult man. According to New Jersey prosecutors, Flohr allegedly used Discord to solicit explicit images and later traveled to the girl’s home, where investigators say sexual assault occurred. Flohr was arraigned as a fugitive from justice and held on ten percent of $2 million bail at the Bucks County Correctional Facility while awaiting extradition. Police believe there may be additional victims and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
