New Britain Township hires new finance director

New Britain Township has a new finance director.

Supervisors voted Monday night to hire Alex Nagy, currently the finance director in Warrington Township, to take over the township’s top financial post. His start date is expected to be Feb. 9.

Assistant to the Township Manager Alexandria Mullin told supervisors that she and Township Manager Dan Fox conducted an extensive search following the holidays.

“We were lucky to get really well-qualified people who had a lot of township experience,” Mullin said. “Luckily for us, Alex submitted his application and I called him back immediately. We thought he was fantastic and snatched him immediately from Warrington.”

Nagy addressed the board briefly after the vote, saying he was eager to get started.

“Nice to meet you all. I am so excited to serve this community,” Nagy said. “I live close by, so I get to enjoy so many of the amenities and services that we provide. To be able to give back to that community is just so awesome.”

He also acknowledged he would be sharing a first name with Mullin.

“I know that there is already an Alex in the township, so you can call me Al,” he said.

McCabe joked that Mullin would now be “Alex 1” and Nagy “Alex 2,” prompting Vice Chair Cynthia Jones to quip, in a nod to “The Cat in the Hat,” “No little red suits are needed.”

Nagy’s appointment brings another experienced municipal administrator into the township’s leadership team as officials continue work on budgeting, financial oversight and long-range planning in 2026.
