Middletown Police launch “blue envelope” for drivers with autism

Middletown Township Police Chief Joe Bartorilla rolled out a new community initiative Monday night aimed at supporting autistic drivers during traffic stops. Speaking before the Board of Supervisors, Chief Bartorilla introduced the “Blue Envelope” program, which provides individuals on the autism spectrum with a clearly marked envelope to store their license, registration, and insurance. The envelope also includes communication tips for both drivers and officers, with the goal of reducing confusion and stress during interactions. “This program is about making encounters with police safer, more respectful, and more predictable,” Bartorilla said. Middletown now joins a growing number of police departments in Bucks and Montgomery Counties adopting the initiative.

Doylestown woman charged with attempted murder in cleaver attack

A violent domestic incident in the heart of Doylestown has left a man hospitalized and a woman behind bars. Police say 50-year-old Robin McNamara faces charges of third-degree attempted murder after allegedly attacking her boyfriend with a cleaver late Saturday night. Officers responded to a pair of 911 calls near South Main and State Streets, eventually locating McNamara outside her apartment, her clothing soaked in blood. According to court documents, McNamara admitted during questioning that she struck her boyfriend during an argument. Inside the apartment, officers found the man covered in blood with a severe head wound and additional cuts across his body. A cleaver believed to be the weapon was recovered at the scene. McNamara remains in custody as the investigation continues.

Hilltown Township homicide victim identified

Police and the Bucks County Coroner’s Office have identified the elderly woman found shot to death in her Hilltown Township home last week. The Bucks County Coroner’s Office confirmed the victim as 89-year-old Anne Turner. Police say she was discovered by a neighbor around 7:30 p.m. Thursday inside her home on the 250 block of Rickert Road. Turner had sustained fatal gunshot wounds to the chest and back.
