Longtime county CFO retires after 35-Year tenure
Bucks County Chief Financial Officer Dave Boscola has retired, capping a public service career that spanned more than three decades. His departure was formally recognized during last week’s Board of Commissioners meeting. County COO Margie McKevitt lauded Boscola’s commitment, noting his steady leadership through “countless challenges.” Commissioners Chair Bob Harvie (D) added, “He helped keep the county financially sound, even through some tough years.” No successor has yet been named for the CFO role.
AAA: Interest in EVs fades amid cost, charging concerns
New survey data from AAA shows Pennsylvania consumers are increasingly hesitant to make the leap to electric vehicles. Only about 60% of U.S. adults say they’re likely to consider an EV for their next purchase — a post-pandemic low. Jana Tidwell of AAA Mid-Atlantic cited high costs, sparse charging infrastructure, and long recharge times as the main deterrents. The share of Americans saying they would not buy an EV has climbed from 51% to 63% over the past year.
Man charged with child porn, AI-generated content, and disturbing burglary
A Warminster man faces a slew of serious charges after Bucks County detectives uncovered a disturbing case involving child sexual abuse material and a home burglary. Christopher O’Neill, 46, has been charged with multiple felonies, including the possession and distribution of child pornography, some of which prosecutors say was generated using artificial intelligence. The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office began investigating O’Neill on June 10 after cyber tips were received from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. Authorities say that between late 2024 and spring of this year, O’Neill stored or shared nearly 700 explicit images and videos through Google Photos and other platforms. In a separate incident on June 28, O’Neill allegedly broke into a home in Warminster and stole several items, including a pair of girl’s underwear. He now also faces charges of burglary, criminal trespassing, theft, and receiving stolen property. He remains in custody at the Bucks County Correctional Facility. Bail was set at 10 percent of $500,000 for the child exploitation charges and an additional $2 million for the burglary case.
