Grieser named new Bucks County Solicitor – Bucks Round-Up – January 13, 2026

Grieser named new Bucks County Solicitor

Bucks County Commissioners named Dan Grieser as the county’s new solicitor, elevating a longtime member of the Law Department to one of the county’s most influential legal posts. The appointment, approved by a 2–1 vote of the board, places Grieser at the head of the department following the departure of Amy Fitzpatrick, who started her new role this week as a Bucks County judge. Grieser joined the county Law Department in 2021 and has served as both assistant county solicitor and deputy county solicitor. He has been a familiar presence at public meetings, including high-profile sessions of the Bucks County Board of Elections. Grieser will oversee all legal matters involving the county, its subdivisions, and its more than 2,000 employees, while also providing legal counsel to the commissioners and county departments as well as the salary and retirement boards. A retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps, Grieser brings more than 25 years of experience representing government agencies. After retiring from military service, he worked as a municipal solicitor for Newtown and Middletown townships and the Centennial School District. A Bucks County native, Grieser is a graduate of Audubon High School and holds degrees from Moorhead State University and the University of North Dakota Law School, along with a master of laws in military law.
