Fitzpatrick and Suozzi working on ICE reform bill – Bucks Round-Up – March 24, 2026

Fitzpatrick and Suozzi working on ICE reform bill

Bucks County Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA-01) and Congressman Tom Suozzi, (D-NY-03), cochairs of the bipartisan Congressional Problem Solvers Caucus are working on legislation to reform U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, including a ban on officers wearing masks in most cases. The two discussed their proposal in an early episode of their new podcast The Pod Couple. U.S. Senate Democrats blocked funding for the Department of Homeland Security, demanding that a litany of changes, including an agent mask ban and an end to the use of administrative warrants for immigration arrests. The standoff has led to federal employees going without paychecks and travelers enduring extended wait times at airports.

Student safety on school buses enhanced by cameras and cops

You’re risking a $300 fine, or more, if you illegally pass a Neshaminy school bus equipped with a camera. Middletown Township Police reported issuing 1,900 citations since the program began at the start of the 2025 school year, from the 2,500 potential infractions they manually reviewed up until early March. Drivers with more serious violations may receive a state citation that involves court appearances and heavier penalties. The state-mandated $300 fine is divided among the company providing camera equipment and maintenance ($150), Neshaminy School District ($100), PennDOT ($25), and Middletown police ($25). Neshaminy school buses transport 8,500 district students as well as 2,900 nonpublic students and travel more than one million miles every year.

March is effectively Pothole Repair Month

Spring is here and PennDOT is on the road in a seasonal spurt of pothole repair after a harsh winter. Beginning next week, maintenance crews will be working on deteriorated portions of Route 13 in Falls Township and Tullytown Borough. Drivers are asked to be careful and patient when passing PennDOT workers and should expect some delays.  Also next week, repairs are planned for Galloway and Mechanicsville roads in Bensalem. This season, PennDOT’s District 6 repair schedule includes 30 state highways in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties. Since January 1, PennDOT has used more than 1,247 tons of asphalt to fill potholes and smooth surfaces affected by the freeze-thaw cycles and heavy traffic loads experienced in this area.
