Egan to run against Hogan for state representative
Neshaminy School Board Director Kristin Egan has announced she intends to challenge State Representative Joe Hogan (R-Langhorne) for his seat in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. A Democrat and public school teacher, Egan mentioned education funding as a major priority should she get elected to represent Hogan’s 142nd Legislative District which encompasses the communities of Langhorne, Langhorne Manor, Penndel, and Lower Southampton, as well as some of of Middletown and Northampton. She criticized Pennsylvania’s education funding system, arguing for expanded state-level funding to ease local school property tax burdens. She also underscored affordability as a major theme for her prospective Harrisburg agenda. The moderate Hogan has himself been vocal as a lawmaker on such issues, voting for substantial school funding increases and sponsoring tax credit proposals for such costs as youth sports programs and gym memberships.

Police: AI generated car sales ruse used to steal thousands
Lower Southampton Township police have issued an arrest warrant for 32-year-old Ion Cojocaru, accused of orchestrating an elaborate online car sale scam. Investigators say the suspect used fake websites and AI-generated images to convince a local man he was purchasing a 1969 Camaro. The victim wired $34,000 before authorities determined the vehicle likely never existed. Police Chief Ted Krimmel said Cojocaru, believed to be living in Romania, allegedly set up U.S.-registered shell businesses to facilitate the fraud. Interpol is assisting in the investigation. Authorities are urging residents to avoid wire transfers and to use verified platforms and secure payment methods when making high-dollar online purchases.
Local NAACP president reflects on life of Rev. Jesse Jackson
Bucks County residents are reflecting on the legacy of civil rights leader Jesse Jackson, who passed away Tuesday at age 84. Adrienne King, president of the Bensalem branch of the NAACP, said Jackson’s life represented a bridge between generations of the civil rights movement. “When I think of Reverend Jesse Jackson’s legacy, I think of it as a bridge between generations,” King said, noting his decades-long advocacy for voter registration, economic inclusion and coalition building. Jackson stood alongside Martin Luther King Jr. during some of the most pivotal moments of the 1960s, including at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis in 1968 when King was assassinated. King said Jackson’s continued presence in public life served as a living connection to that era and to the ongoing fight for equal justice.
