DA Schorn details harrowing Upper Southampton home invasion

Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn on Thursday described a “terrifying” home invasion that left an Upper Southampton family shaken but unharmed. Authorities say 33-year-old Nafis Fisher of Philadelphia broke into a residence on the 200 block of Miller Drive during the night, entering the bedroom of a sleeping 25-year-old woman and attempting to restrain her. The victim’s mother rushed to help, wrestling with the intruder before he fled through the garage. Police later recovered a knife and twelve-foot extension cord inside the home. Investigators used the FindMy tracking feature on stolen AirPods to follow Fisher’s movements down the Pennsylvania Turnpike into Philadelphia, where officers located a black 2014 Kia Forte matching witness descriptions. The AirPods were remotely activated, and their sound led police directly to the car — where Fisher was found asleep. He was taken into custody and reportedly made “substantive admissions” about the break-in. Fisher is being held at the Bucks County Correctional Facility on $250,000 bail (10%) while awaiting further proceedings.

Middletown secures PennDOT grant for traffic signal upgrades

Middletown Township’s plan to modernize traffic signals along Maple Avenue and North Flowers Mill Road is moving forward after supervisors voted unanimously to advertise bids for the project. Assistant Manager Nick Valla confirmed the township received nearly $139,000 from PennDOT’s “Go Greenlight” program to replace aging signal equipment. The corridor’s lights still rely on original hardware, and PennDOT advised the township to pursue incremental improvements before adopting a full adaptive system. Once bids are received, supervisors will award a contract to the lowest responsible bidder.

Woman charged after alleged assault on disabled relative

A 37-year-old Chalfont woman, identified as Stephanie Chan, is facing serious charges after allegedly assaulting a wheelchair-bound family member during a domestic dispute in Warrington Township on October 7. Police say Chan struck the victim with a walker and threatened to kill them while seizing both the house and cell phones to prevent a 911 call. Responding officers found Chan still in possession of the phones. She was arrested and arraigned before Judge Stacy Wertman, who set bail at $100,000 (10%). Chan remains at the Bucks County Correctional Facility pending a hearing.
