Bucks County man sentenced to life in Temple officer’s killing

A Philadelphia jury on Wednesday found Miles Pfeffer, 20, of Buckingham Township, guilty of murdering Temple University Police Sgt. Christopher Fitzgerald. The jury deliberated for less than 30 minutes before delivering the verdict. Pfeffer was sentenced to life without parole, plus additional decades for robbery and related gun charges. The fatal shooting occurred in February 2023 when Pfeffer, then 18, was fleeing from police amid a string of carjackings. Prosecutors said he shot Fitzgerald six times at point-blank range during a foot pursuit. Surveillance footage played in court corroborated the prosecution’s case. Pfeffer’s younger brother, who was also facing charges from that night, testified against him. Sgt. Fitzgerald, 31, was a husband and father of four.

The case began with a March 2025 tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Adamsky is being held at Bucks County Correctional Facility on $500,000 bail.
