Bucks County Sheriff’s Office P.A.L. announces fundraiser to fuel expansion
DOYLESTOWN, PA (August 26, 2025) – In case you missed it, today’s Philadelphia Inquirer highlighted the successful launch of Bucks County’s inaugural county-wide Police Athletic League (P.A.L.), a program already showing immense community demand and impact. Now, the Bucks County Sheriff’s Office is announcing its first major fundraiser to build on that momentum and expand the program’s reach to more children across the county.
The P.A.L. program, which officially began in early August, was founded by Sheriff Fred Harran to enhance community engagement and ensure Bucks County youth have access to safe, free athletic programming. Its first initiative, a boxing class for teens ages 11 to 17 held at the Joe Hand Boxing Gym in Feasterville, was an immediate success, filling up and generating a waitlist.
To meet this proven demand, the Sheriff’s Office is inviting the community and media to a “Raise a Drink” fundraising event on Wednesday, September 10, from 5-7 PM at Chambers 19 in Doylestown. The event will provide a unique opportunity for residents to support the P.A.L. program while being served by “Celebrity Bartenders” Sheriff Fred Harran and 1210WPHT radio host Dom Giordano.
The funds are crucial to Sheriff Harran’s long-term vision of regionalizing the P.A.L., which he modeled after a successful youth league in Bensalem that grew to serve over 1,200 kids. “For law enforcement officers to be breaking down those barriers with kids … is so valuable. It’s priceless,” Harran told the Inquirer.
