Bucks County issues emergency declaration ahead of winter storm, activates EOC

The Board of Bucks County Commissioners has approved a Declaration of Disaster Emergency ahead of a winter storm that is expected to bring heavy snow and potential blizzard conditions to the area to start the week.

Taking effect at noon Sunday, the declaration empowers Bucks County’s Emergency Management Agency to more efficiently respond to emergency conditions arising from the storm.

As of Sunday morning, the National Weather Service was predicting 18 inches of snow or more could blanket Bucks County beginning Sunday into Monday.

Bucks County EMA is preparing to activate the Emergency Operations Center on Sunday to monitor conditions and coordinate resource requests from first responders.

Bucks County EMA urges residents to take necessary precautions during this weather event, including making sure electronic devices are charged, and avoiding non-essential travel.
