$6 million Bristol Borough makeover includes multimillion-dollar fire station

Bristol Borough is ready to spend $6 million to improve borough-wide recreational facilities and a centralized state-of-the-art fire station off of Jefferson Avenue. Bristol Borough Council approved a quick start for an ambitious plan designed to improve and upgrade its recreational facilities, ballfields, and parks with lighting and new and special equipment in all four playgrounds. It would also improve walkability, extending and repaving the Spurline Trail and connecting it to Radcliffe Street. Many of the sites will be outfitted with security cameras and new surfaces for wheelchair accessibility. The project will be completed in phases and the project coordinators expect work on the playgrounds and Otter Street ballfields to begin within a few months. The $6 million endeavor will be funded by the borough as a one-time expense.
